Pick a topic of your own choice or take a look at my suggestions. Think through thoroughly what you're going to present and e-mail me a brief description along with references on which your presentation is going to be based

Lectures:
Monday and Thursday, 12-1:20 pm, SEC-218. To benefit most from lectures, it's best to read the text ahead of lecture. Then, you can ask questions that wouldn't otherwise come up. Don't hesitate to ask questions during and after lectures or during office hour.

Course content: The current plan is to cover Chapters 15 (Electron gas in magnetic fields), 16 (Magnetic properties of localized systems and Kondo impurities), 17 (Magnetic ordering in crystals) and 18 (Superconductivity) of Grosso and Parravicini.
