Steve Schnetzer is a professor in the Rutgers Physics & Astronomy Department. He received a doctoral degree in physics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1981 and joined the Rutgers faculty in 1984. In 1983, he proposed and founded a high energy physics experiment at the KEK laboratory in Japan. Later he led the development of radiation-hardened electronics for use in one of the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider. In 2015, he established one of the first undergraduate courses in the US on quantum computing. For over ten years, he has helped to run the Rutgers Summer Program on particle physics and cosmology for high school students.
Dr. Daniel Kaplan is a teacher at Montclair High School. He has been a leader in the Rutgers Summer Quarknet program for over ten years, and also teaches in the New Jersey Governor's School. He received his doctoral degree from Princeton University in 1982. He has 25 years of experience in industry and holds two patents. Since 2005, he has combined that experience with a passion for teaching to transform physics from an abstract subject to a hands-on experience for high school students.
Eva Halkiadakis is a Professor of Physics at Rutgers University. She is an experimental particle physicist and is a member of the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the CERN laboratory in Switzerland. Her recent research focuses on searching for new physics at the LHC, with a special emphasis on searches for new physics in "multi-jet" signatures. She received her Ph.D. from Rutgers University in 2001 and was subsequently a postdoctoral researcher with the University of Rochester before joining the Rutgers faculty in 2006.
Amitabh (Amit) Lath is a professor in the Rutgers Department of Physics & Astronomy. He is an experimental particle physicist whose research focuses on the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. He received a doctoral degree from MIT in 1995 before coming to Rutgers.
Andrew Mastbaum is a professor in the Rutgers Department of Physics & Astronomy. He is an experimental particle physicist whose research focuses on neutrino physics using beams of neutrinos at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. He received a doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and subsequently held a postdoctoral position at the University of Chicago before coming to Rutgers in 2019.
Yuri Gershtein is a professor in the Rutgers Department of Physics & Astronomy. He is an experimental particle physicist whose research focuses on the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. He received a doctoral degree from the Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Moscow in 1996. He was a postdoctoral associate at Brown University and a faculty member at Florida State University before coming to Rutgers in 2008.
John Paul (JP) Chou is a professor in the Rutgers Department of Physics & Astronomy. He is an experimental particle physicist whose research focuses on the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. He received a doctoral degree from Harvard University in 2008. He was a postdoctoral associate at Brown University before coming to Rutgers in 2011.
