New possibilities for condensed matter science at the Neutron Spallation
Source in Oak Ridge
Georg Ehlers, Oak Ridge
The
Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) is a new accelerator-based neutron
source that provides the most intense pulsed neutron beams in the
world for scientific research and industrial development. Some beam
lines have already been operating for a few years, whereas others are
still being built. I will give an overview of the current
experimental capabilities with emphasis on my own research on
geometrically frustrated magnets and multiferroic systems.
