Giant thermoelectric effect and bulk Fermi arc of Dirac electrons


I will show that under a quantizing magnetic field,  thermopower of zero-gap semimetals and narrow-gap semiconductors (such as 3D Dirac/Weyl materials) grows linearly with the field, without saturation [1]. This effect enables record-high thermopower and thermoelectric figure of merit in existing materials. In the second part of this part, I will show that under very broad conditions, electron-electron, electron-phonon and electron-impurity scatterings turn 2D Dirac points into bulk Fermi arcs [2].
