A Music and Physics presentation whereby a three-part composition will be intertwined with a presentation on physics of the quantum, to take place in the magnificently restored landmark home of the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America.

From the earliest times, revolution in Art, Music and Science have gone hand in hand.  Artists and scientists have frequently worked in close circles, sharing close friendship and relation.   Revolution in Art has often occurred in parallel with revolution in science.   The young physicists of the 20th century, alongside their artist friends rejected the past and both brought us a new way of looking at our world: that of quantum mechanics, and cubism.   This close relation between art and science continues, and begins to furnish us with a new vision  of nature and art for the  21st century.   The event will, by a fusion of music and presentation, performed and spoken by cutting edge artists and physicists, introduce the public to the mysterious frontier physics world of collective quantum phenomena.

Our event tonight will exemplify the close connections between Music and Science. Bob Laughlin, our first speaker , is an acclaimed Physics Nobel Laureate, but unknown to most, also holds a passionate interest in composing.  Our professional composer of the evening, famous rock musician and classical composer  Jaz Coleman, is curiously the brother of our second physics speaker, Piers Coleman.  The event will entertain and also challenge those with a curiosity in art and science.  Our lead violinist, Pavel Sporcl, is a rising performer in European circles, and will lead his  novel quintet of musicians, the Sporcl quintet.

We hope you will try to attend.
