High Voltage in Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers

With the growing popularity of liquid argon time projection chambers in neutrino and dark matter experiments,
understanding the parameters related to high voltage stability in liquid argon is of critical importance. This
talk will start with a historical view including an order of magnitude misunderstanding of the dielectric strength
of liquid argon, and will describe the dangers of such misconceptions. Recent studies both in support of experiments
and as part of a dedicated high voltage project will be presented.
