Extended Dynamical Mean Field theory
Sergey Pankov
Abstract
Dynamical Mean Field theory (DMFT) has proved to be a useful tool in
studying strongly correlated systems. DMFT maps a lattice model onto an
impurity model, significantly simplifying the problem. Extended DMFT
(EDMFT) was developed to incorporate long range interaction effects (which
are not treated by DMFT). In this talk the formalism of EDMFT (DMFT)
will be explained using the example of the electron phonon interacting
system, functional derivation of the equations will be presented, and if
time permits, generalization of the theory to the broken symmetry phase
(CDW) will be discussed.
