    to create UBVRI_Bessell filters  these are energy so we used /pbergs

    we also created Astier's BVRI filters from astro-ph/0510447) which they
    claim better represent the Landolt system. These are the same as Bessell's
    responses, except blue-shifted by 41, 27, 21, 25 Angstroms in B, V, R, I.

      Vega-based SDSS system (using Bohlin Vega zeropoints)

    ran doab.pro and dosdssnat.pro to create ugriz passbands
      in the AB system (but using f_lambda fluxes) and in the SDSS 
      natural (instrumental) system, which is close to AB.

    these did not use VEGA as the model spectrum, but rather
      AB.flm, which is a model AB spectrum (constant f_nu = 3.631 erg/cm2/s/Hz) 

    the SDSS natural passbands can be used directly on SDSS pipeline
      photometry (no offsets to a Vega system are needed; if you do apply
      offsets use the *_SDSS.fits passbands created above).

    as the default (alpha_lyr_stis_003.fits from Bohlin 2006).

    New "SDSS" passbands are like SDSSv4 (natural system), 
      except using John Marriner's #s for SDSS->AB
