In the following plots (for 3 TeV Z', three different vpion masses, and jets of conesize 0.4 and 0.7 with a midpoint algorithm), the number of jets with pT over 100 and over 50 GeV are shown.  I should redo this for the L1 trigger thresholds, but don't have time just now.

Note:

In these models, the v-pi-plus does not decay, so there is substantial missing energy in many events, especially those with small numbers of jets.  By substantial I mean 200 - 500 GeV, with a tail out to 1 TeV.  So often one or two hard jets will suffice.

Some of these events have no hard v-pi-zeros, so all the b partons are soft.  There is almost no hope of triggering on these events, I think, at level one.

For those events that do have hard v-pi-zeros, three jets is not uncommon, though the efficiency is perhaps lower than we would want, given expected jet thresholds for a 3 jet trigger.

If the v-pi-pluses were allowed to decay, the MET would be smaller, but the number of jets will be larger; in particular, the number of events with zero or one hard jet will greatly decrease.   But is the number of events with three or more jets substantially increased?  This needs a study.
