JLab Users Group PAC Survey

The Users Group Board has been asked to poll the Users about the schedule for Program Advisory Committee meetings. For the next few years we expect to have one PAC meeting a year. When we get closer to 12 GeV turn on, we will return to having 2 PAC meetings per year.

At this point, there will not be a summer 2008 PAC meeting, PAC34 will be in January 2009, and it would be natural to have the annual PAC meetings each winter for the next few years. Usually, summer meetings are in July or August, while winter meetings are in January.

Which do you generally prefer?

I prefer winter PACS.

I prefer summer PACS.

If we switch from winter to summer PACs, either we have 2 PACs in one year or we have an 18 month gap between PACs. PACs can be expensive, costing Users and the lab a few people-years of time and tens of thousands of dollars for travel, etc. Assuming we switch from winter to summer PACs, which do you prefer?

PAC in January 2009, then no PAC until summer 2010.

Two PACs during 2009, then summer PACs afterward.

No preference.
