Here you will find all the information you'll need about physics at Rutgers (and if you can't find something tell us and we will put it up here). For prospective Rutgers physics majors we hope to make you feel welcome to the program and hopefully we can answer any questions you have. If you already are a physics major you are also in luck because this year we have many plans for SPS related social events to help foster the physics community here at Rutgers. Keep checking back for updates throughout the summer and we'll keep you informed of what's going on.

Howdy all! I apologize for the long wait but we finally managed to get in contact with Six Flags people to figure out a deal for Physics Day on Friday, April 28th. The price per person will be $10 which will cover the price for the ticket and includes a brand new official RUSPS t-shirt! If you are interested in going, please email me so I can send you the waivers necessary for the trip. ***You must RSVP by Sunday if you want to go*** Again, we apologize for such a short notice. Also, if you can be a driver for the trip please make note of that in your email to me.
If you can't make it to Physics Day, but still would like a t-shirt you can have one for $5 (limit one per customer). If you'd like one, either find me during the day or if you don't normally see me email me and we'll figure out a way in which the exchange can be made.
Otherwise, enjoy your last week of classes!

General Relativity Talk!
"An Introduction to General Relativity for Undergraduates"
-by Prof. Shapiro
Tuesday, April 11th @ 8:30pm
PLH
Dear RUSPS,
I am happy to say that Prof. Shapiro has agreed to gives us his long awaited General Relativity talk on Tuesday, April 11th at 8:30pm. Usually, General Relativity is a subject most physics students don't get to see until graduate school so now is your chance to get a taste of what it is all about! Prof Shapiro's talk will introduce the mathematics involved in Gen Rel, so the target is more towards the upper level physics major. But, we do encourage all students interested to take advantage of this unique opportunity and come out to the talk. As always, pizza and soda will be available and we hope to see you all there!
Sincerely,
Javier D. Sanchez-Yamagishi

New Semester for RUSPS!!
Howdy everyone! Hope your semester is starting off well. Like last year, the physics department is interviewing candidates for open astronomy faculty positions and as part of the process they have to give a talk on their research targeted for undergraduates. Talks will begin this Thursday from 12 noon to 1pm and pizza and soda will be provided! These talks will continue through till March every Thursday from 12-1pm except for a few exceptions that we'll let you know about in the future. If you are interested in astronomy this is a great chance to learn about the current research going on in the field so come check it out!

Last SPS meeting on Monday the 12th
Mark your calendars for the last SPS meeting for the semester on
**Monday, December 12th**. Unfortunately, our planned talks to be
given by Prof. Kalelkar and the Gen Relativity Talk to be given by
Prof Shapiro had to be moved to next semester but this means we will
have plenty of activities to go through in the spring and also gives
us an excuse to go all out for this last meeting. More info will be
coming soon, but the general theme for the meeting will be an info
session on physics research internships at Rutgers and other
institutions as well. This should be a valuable opportunity to hear
about the different internships available and to get advice on
applying for internships. Stay tuned and tell your friends! We plan
to have plenty of food and perhaps some extra goodies as well!
