Using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, we have constructed a sample of galaxies with extremely low luminosity -- less than one percent of the Milky Way -- in a wide range of galaxy environments. I describe the luminosity function of such galaxies, the distribution of their properties, what we know about their dynamics, and how they vary with environment. I discuss how one can use these galaxies to address current theoretical questions about how feedback, ram pressure stripping, and tidal stripping affect the formation and evolution of galaxies. |
