Our Thailand Itinerary

November 12-29, 1999

Friday Leave the house, 6 AM local time.
   
Saturday Arrive in Bangkok, 11 PM local time, and check into the airport hotel.
Sunday
Day 1    		Woke up late, got a room in the Banglamphu district, and went for a walk to see the standing Buddha, the Marble Temple, and the king's residence. (Map #1)
Monday
Day 2   		 Took a walking tour of the Grand Palace, saw the "reclining Buddha," then boarded the night train for Chiang Mai. (1)
Tuesday
Day 3   		 After getting settled, visited the Wat on the Hill in the early afternoon, and saw the waterfall just before sunset. (Map #2)
          
Wednesday
Day 4   		 Took a class at the Chiang Mai Cooking School (2)
Thursday
Day 5   		 A morning of logistics in the local airport office, then a short tour of the surrounding countryside before boarding the night train for Bangkok (2)
Friday
Day 6   		 Arrive in Bangkok, fly to Phuket, get a share taxi to Krabi. Got lost in Krabi (twice), did some shopping, and took a 1 hr boat tour at night. (Map #3)
Saturday
Day 7   		 Boat tour to Chicken Island and Princess cave Beach, with some snorkelling. (3)
Sunday
Day 8   		 Took a boat to Ko Phi Phi, hiked up to the viewpoint, down through the jungle to a beach on the other side of the island, and took a taxi boat back. (Map #4)
Monday
Day 9   		 Took a boat tour around the Phi Phi islands, saw some nice beaches and did some good snorkelling. (4)
Tuesday
Day 10   		 Took the boat back to Krabi, then caught a sawngthaew to the waterfall park. (5)
Wednesday
Day 11   		 Explored Wat Tham Sua ("tiger cave temple") and caught a bus to Trang (5)
Thursday
Day 12   		 Hired a tuk-tuk to a local cave and waterfall, met some local kids, caught the night train to Bangkok (6)
Friday
Day 13   		 Saw the Golden Buddha, spent most of the day in frustration attempting to tour the cannals, then took a walking tour of chinatown before heading to the airport (1)
Saturday Headed home, after a night in the airport
