(1) What is a "mollusk" (give the dictionary definition)?  Why does
Einstein use this strange term for a reference body in his formulation
of the general principle of relativity?

(2) (a) Summarize the behavior of space and time under the general
principle of relativity (i.e., Gaussian coordinates). Contrast this
behavior with that under the special principle. (b) The extreme
generality of Gaussian coordinate systems makes it difficult to
understand the connection such coordinate systems make to the real
world.  Describe what Einstein considers to be the connection between
reality and an arbitrary Gaussian coordinate system (hint: look
closely at Chapter 27).
