A washer of mass m can slide up and down a rubber cord (length l0 and Hooke's constant k) with friction force F, which does not depend on the speed of the washer and on how much the cord is stretched.
The washer is released from rest at the top of the cord. Find:

  • how much the cord stretches by the time the washer reaches the bottom of the cord
  • speed of the washer at the time it reaches the bottom of the cord
  • how much energy will be lost to heat by the time the washer reaches the bottom of the cord
