You can usually find me in my office puzzling at my computer, which is located on the third floor of Serin with the rest of the graduate students in the astrophysics group. I did my undergrad in astrophysics at The California Institute of Technology (I was in Ricketts House, for those who are curious). While attending Caltech, I spent my summers exploring the various disciplines of astronomy through a couple of Summer Undergaduate Research Fellowships.  I grew up in the small town of Grass Valley, CA, and attended Bear River High School.When I manage to find free time, I've been known to read, sew, play the drums, and paint (often pieces inspired by trips to telescopes or recent seminars, see right). If the weather is nice, I'll occaisionally emerge from the grad student cave to enjoy soaking up some photons at the beach. In high school and college I played water polo and swam, which I tried to keep up in grad school though without much success... maybe I'll try again some day. |
