Planet Migration in the Solar System
Subsequent to planet formation, the gravitational interactions with the
gaseous birth disk, with the residual planetesimal disk, and/or with
sibling planets are the cause of dramatic orbital migration of planets. I
will describe the basics of these physical mechanisms and related
phenomenology, and present new results that provide quantitative
information about the migration of the giant planets in our own solar
system.
