Courses in Mathematical Physics exist because of reasons discussed here.

Class times and location: Wednesdays: 12—1:20;  Fridays 1:40—3:00, SEC 205, Busch.

Office hour: Fridays: 3:00—4:00  in 319 West Serin

My telephone number is 1-732-445-5500 (ext. 2284) and my electronic mail address is here.

Except in special circumstances, attendance will be limited after the add/drop period to registered students.

People with truly special reasons to audit without registering should check with me before the drop deadline. Students not enrolled in the course cannot get a grade for the course. You need to be enrolled in the course in order to get the password for the announcements page.

Physical attendance at most classes is required. All problems in the textbook are recommended for homework, but only a fraction will be assigned as obligatory homework.  There will be 10 homework assignments and it is required that all be submitted. There will be 3 midterm exams during the semester and no final, unless one or more of the students objects by sending me an email before the drop date. Reading the textbook on your own is an integral part of the course work.  Homework usually gets graded by a grader;  these grades are not folded into the course grade.

For any issue you wish to take up with me that does not require a real  conversation (including setting up an appointment to meet if the office hour  is inconvenient) email is the most efficient way to get a quick response.

Questions about participation without needed prerequisites are handled by the undergraduate and graduate studies directors.
