Sept. 1.
Please
visit this website on a regular basis for updates and news about this
course.
Our 1st
lecture will be on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1:40
pm – 3 pm in SEC 209 (Busch campus).
The 1st
Homework assignment will be posted on this website on Monday Sept. 10, it will be due in class on Monday Sept 17.
Sept. 12.
The
homework grader for our course will be Mr. Sean Kung, who is a Ph.D.
candidate in condensed matter physics at our Department (skung@physics.rutgers.edu).
Sean will be responsible for grading homeworks and maintaining the HW
grades in the online grade-book system. Specific questions about graded HWs might be directed to Sean via e-mail.
Remember
that atomic number Z must be incorporated in your calculations of the
closest approach distance for particles bombarding atoms (if Z > 1 for
the particles or atoms involved). In the lecture, we only dealt with H atom
for simplicity, and so Z=1 in the expression for Coulomb interaction.
Nov. 19.
There will
be lecture on Monday Nov. 26 (with HW #9 due),
but the class on Wednesday Nov. 28 is cancelled.
