Course Information

Please send all administrative questions to Prof. Joel Shapiro. This includes scheduling, course policy, makeup exams, WebAssign homework, and problems with the gradebook. Please note: all requests for extensions on homework for individuals will be denied unless you are suffering from a documented extended illness.

If you need a special permission number to enroll in Physics 204, or register for a different section, please contact to Ms. Julia Sotory, jsotory@physics, and include your full name, your student ID number, and a list of three sections you would be willing to enroll in.

You may attend either of the two lectures (10:35-11:30 or 12:15-1:10) regardless of which recitation section you are registered in.

Physics 203-204 fulfills all the physics requirements for science majors, as well as those for admission to health profession schools and graduate schools.  It provides an excellent opportunity for learning physics, the fundamental science, in a comprehensive, challenging and rewarding way. Graduates of this course have gone on to distinguished careers in medicine, science, management, law, public service etc...

Physics 204 builds on the material introduced in Physics 203, and if you did not take that or a similar course recently you will need to brush up on the relevant concepts and techniques. You will in any case need to invest a lot of time doing problems, studying and getting help, particularly if you haven't had any Physics in high school or college before.

Through individual and group tutoring we provide extensive personal help for all students in 204. Please take advantage of these services to make your experience in learning physics an enjoyable and satisfying one.
