Physics 140 - Spring 2012

Useful Links

The following are some web sites that you may find helpful and should refer to often. I will add more during the course of the semester. There are many, many web sites out there dealing with climate change, some good, some bad. If you find one you like and think it would be helpful for the class, please let me know. If I agree, I'll post it.

www.skepticalscience.com
This is an excellent web site that scientifically and intelligently discusses a wide range of topics. It is directed toward rebutting arguments of global warming skeptics. You can easily access many topics here. A very nice feature is that for each topic you can call up a basic, intermediate or advanced discussion of it depending upon your level of comfort.

IPCC Fourth Assessment Report: Climate Change 2007.
The Fourth Assessment Report(AR4) by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released in 2007 is a very important and thorough document. Essentially anything you want to know about the current understanding of climate change up to 2007 is contained here.

Working Group I: The Physical Science Basis
Working Group II: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability
Working Group III: Mitigation of Climate Change
There were three working groups that compiled the IPCC report. The "Summaries for Policy Makers" of each of these working groups are very useful and concise references.
