Baryons in one-flavor QCD

More than 3 decades ago it was realized that baryons can be understood from the low-energy point of view as Skyrmions associated with pi_3 of the coset which the pions parameterize. However, in one-flavor QCD pi_3=0 and therefore there is no theory of Skyrmions. We will resolve this puzzle and explain how baryon charge can be understood at low energies. We will discuss the resulting theory of baryons and some of its salient properties.
