How Do We Know the Things We Think We Know...(about elementary particles)

The Standard Model is said to be very successful in predicting particle
properties, but how solid is the experimental evidence for those properties.
I will discuss how particle properties are measured, in particular, mass,
spin and charge. I will review examples from early particle history and
compare them with methods used nowadays, in particular top quark properties
measurements at the Tevatron. I will also talk about measuring properties of
anticipated new particles at the LHC.
