The ICTP electronic structure group includes two permanent staff members (Ralph Gebauer and Sandro Scandolo) and several postdocs/visitors, and works in close collaboration with SISSA and the Democritos National Simulation Center, both based in the same campus. Scientific interests of the group include ab-initio and classical MD of surfaces and high-pressure phenomena, quantum transport, and time-dependent DFT with applications to spectroscopy and charge transfer dynamics.
