Job description: Applications are invited for Ph.D. and postdoc
research positions in solid state physics at the
Institute of Physics of the University of Frankfurt,
Germany. The candidate should either have a Diploma/M.S. or a Ph.D. in
Physics with an excellent academic background and good
computational skills. Applicants with research experience on first
principles (Density Functional Theory) calculations on strongly
correlated systems are encouraged to apply.
Previous work on development of many-body methods
   will be highly valued.

The candidates will work in one of the following research areas:

  1) Microscopic description
of the behavior of strongly-correlated electron systems
by a combination of Density Functional Theory calculations
  and many-body methods.

  2) Description of nonequilibrium structural changes in nanostructured
materials and metalorganics with ab initio and tight binding methods.

  3) Interplay of electronic and lattice degrees of freedom in
organic and metalorganic materials under pressure.

  4) Multiferroic systems.

  Teaching support will be welcomed.

The appointment will be for two years (Postdoc)
and three years (PhD) respectively starting in October 2006.

Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and
