Dear Colleague:

I would like to call your attention to two postdoctoral positions in
nanoscale physics that have become available in my group. The research
associated with the first position will focus on quantum transport in
molecular devices, while the second one will emphasize new solar materials
and nanotubes. A general ad for these positions is appended to this message.
Please pass it on to anyone that you would consider appropriate.

Thank you very much for your help!

Regards,

Jerry Bernholc

TWO POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN CONDENSED MATTER THEORY

Condensed Matter Theory Group of Prof. Bernholc

North Carolina State University, Raleigh

The group is part of the newly formed Center for High Performance
Simulation. We are located in an attractive, state-of-the-art "nanoscience"
building at NCSU's new research campus. The main activities of the group are
centered on large-scale applications and development of electronic structure
methods. Specific research areas include nanoscale materials, molecular
electronics, surface and interface properties and molecular reactivity. We
are also active in the development of new methods.

The ideal candidates would have significant experience with density
functional theory, including quantum transport and nanoscale physics. He/she
would be joining a large and very active research effort, and would be
involved in a number of diverse and challenging projects.

The group interacts significantly with researchers in several departments at
NCSU, as well at Oak Ridge National Laboratories and Triangle Universities.
We are also very active participants in high performance computing
initiatives and have excellent access to high-end teraflop-rated computers
at DoD and DoE supercomputing facilities.

NC State University is one of the vertices of the Research Triangle, a
rapidly growing high-technology area that is home to numerous industrial
research campuses, start-up companies and federal and state research
organizations. The quality of life in the Raleigh area has consistently been
acclaimed in national surveys.

Interested persons should contact Professor Jerry Bernholc
(http://www.chips.ncsu.edu/~bernholc/) at bernholc-at-ncsu.edu.
