SHORT TERM POST-DOCTRAL POSITION AVAILABLE

Subject 
A program on computational materials science in Department of Materials Science & Engineering of Kyoto University, 
Japan has an opening for a Post-Doc scientist to support on-going activities in the group. Design and exploration of 
advanced materials by means of computational modeling and experimental works are objectives of the group. Intimate 
collaborations with experimental groups in both academic and industry sites are being constructed. Materials of our 
interests include electronic, functional, magnetic, structural, energy-storage, catalysis and other kinds of 
materials. 

Conditions
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in materials science, physics or chemistry and should have a keen interest in 
computational materials science. Expertise in computational methods such as first principles, molecular dynamics, 
Monte-Carlo, thermodynamics, etc is desirable. Good communication skill in either English or Japanese is mandatory.
The position is available immediately. Appointment will be made until 30th March 2006 in the first instance. It may 
be 
continued until 30th March 2007 depending upon mutual agreement and availability of funds. 
Monthly allowance is in the level of assistant professors in Japanese National Universities, which is determined by 
her/his personal carrier. Work place is located inside of Kyoto University.
