An opening is announced for a post-doctoral position on ultrafast electroni=
c processes and electron-vibrational coupling in molecules, using time depe=
ndent density functional theory. The position will be hosted in the nanomat=
(www.nanomat.ulg.ac.be) group of the University of Liege in Belgium, start=
ing as early as February 2012.
The aim is to determine the limits of traditional TDDFT for processes at th=
e atto- and femto-second time scales, in collaboration with groups in quant=
um chemistry and experimental laser science. The systems under study are sm=
all to medium scale molecules of experimental interest (diatomics, dyes, sm=
all cage molecul
es...).

The position can be extended to 2 years, possibly 3, by common agreement af=
ter the first year of research.

The candidate should be less than 6 years past their PhD to be eligible.

Candidates with Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science backgrounds will b=
e expected to have experience using Hartree Fock or DFT electronic structur=
e method
s. Experience with TDDFT and/or programming are very strong pluses. The can=
didate will interact with the four groups in ab initio simulations at ULg t=
otaling some 25 people.

Liege is an agreeable mid-sized city in the Belgian "highlands" and is clos=
e to Aachen in Germany, Maastricht in Holland, and Brussels. Costs of housi=
ng and living are very reasonable by European standards, and salary is appr=
oximately 24000 euros per annum after tax.

To apply please send a CV, letter of motivation describing yourself and you=
r research projects and interests. Have two letters of recommendation also =
be sent=20
directly to:
