A postdoc position is available at Brown University, in the area of developing stress-controlled catalysts for CO2 reduction. The postdoc will work as part of a large multi-investigator project dealing with the effects of mechanically-induced strain on heterogeneous catalyst properties. The multi-investigator project involves collaborators from mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, and chemistry, and has both experimental and theoretical (computational) components.

This position will involve the application of electronic structure theory to elucidate the effects of mechanically-induced strain on key intermediates in the electrochemical reduction of CO2 (e.g., for solar fuels), and the use of such methods to predict activity as a function of dynamically applied stress, in collaboration with experimental colleagues. Success in the early stages will lead to the search for optimized materials and conditions for such an approach.

Interested applicants should send a CV and inquiries to andrew_peterson-at-brown.edu.<br />
