<p align=3D"left" >An opportunity for a postdoctoral position in theoretica=
l condensed matter physics exists currently in Theoretical Physics group (h=
ttps://www.ifm.liu.se/theomod/theophys/) at the Department of Physics, Chem=
istry and Biology, Linköping University, Sweden.

<p align=3D"left" >The group, with its strong expertise in alloy theory, is=
interested in fundamental studies of materials properties at extreme condi=
tions, in simulations of nanostructured materials, as well as in the develo=
pment of user-friendly simulation packages and visualization tools for the =
electronic structure calculations, molecular dynamics and statistical mecha=
nics simulations. The goal for the project is to develop further our compet=
ence in atomistic simulations, to integrate theory and experiments, and to =
transfer the competence to experimental groups investigating structural pro=
perties of complex materials.

<p align=3D"left" >We are looking for a strong candidate with PhD in physic=
s and substantial experience in Density Functional calculations and/or stat=
istical mechanics/molecular dynamics simulations. An expertise in the field=
of first-principles simulations of spectroscopic properties and/or lattice=
dynamics/phase transitions, including methodological development is highly=
desirable. Demonstrated ability of programming in FORTRAN and /or C++ and/=
or experience in providing a user support in first-principles simulations a=
re highly desirable as well.

<p align=3D"left" >Linköping University is known for its strong resear=
ch environments in materials science, supported by leading Swedish and Euro=
pean financial agencies. It also invests substantial efforts in setting up =
attractive carrier opportunities for young researchers.

<p align=3D"left" >Interested candidates should submit their CV, including =
names of at least two referees and the list of publication, before January =
15, 2012 to Prof. Igor A. Abrikosov, Head of Theory and Modeling Division, =
Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM), Linköpings Univers=
ity, SE-581 83 Linköping, Sweden, e-mail: igor.abrikosov-at-ifm.liu.se, h=
