A post-doc position is available in the electronic structure group (http://physique.iemn.univ-lille1.fr) at the Institute for Electronics, Microelectronics, and Nanotechnology (IEMN), Lille, France. The goal of the project is to investigate the potential use of graphene as a transparent conducting substrate for solar cells based on semiconductor nanocrystals. In particular, we would like to study the light absorption in different types of nanocrystals and the charge/energy transfer to the graphene substrate. The work will be performed in collaboration with Christophe Delerue and Ludger Wirtz.
 
The IEMN is a research institute jointly run by the CNRS (French National Research Center),  Lille University,  and ISEN engineering school. The position is funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). The initial contract will be for one year with possible renewal for a second year.

The candidate should have a PhD in Physics or Material Science and should have demonstrated scientific creativity. A strong background in theoretical solid-state physics is necessary. Furthermore, experience with tight-binding methods and ab-initio (DFT) calculations is helpful. Good oral and written communication skills in English are required.
