A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the group of Prof. Kiri=
ll Belashchenko at University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). The successful can=
didate will apply and develop first-principles methods to investigate the p=
roperties of magnetic materials and nanostructures. It is expected that the=
main focus will be on the investigation of the temperature-dependent elect=
ronic structure of half-metallic ferromagnets using the vector disordered l=
ocal moment method implemented in the tight-binding LMTO basis.

The initial appointment will be for one year. Extension of this appointment=
will be possible upon satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, and avai=
lability of funding. A PhD degree in physics or a closely related area is r=
equired. Strongly desirable qualifications include excellent background in =
solid state physics, knowledge and experience in the theory and practice of=
first-principles calculations, scientific programming skills, good communi=
cation skills, as well as strong personal motivation and creativity.

Interested applicants should send an application letter and a CV including =
a list of publications, as well as contact information for at least three r=
eferences, to Kirill Belashchenko by email in PDF format. The application l=
etter should describe the applicant=92s experience and specific contributio=
ns to research, as well as other relevant qualifications. Applicants with l=
ess than 3 years of postdoctoral experience are also asked to provide acade=
mic transcripts from their graduate school.
