The appointments are part of Prof. Stixrude=92s ERC Advanced Grant: MoltenE=
arth which aims to predict the material behavior of fluid silicates that dr=
ove the evolution of the magma ocean, the formation of the first atmosphere=
, and reaction with the core.  First principles molecular dynamics simulati=
ons based on density functional theory will be combined with advanced therm=
odynamic modeling methods to produce a global model of magma ocean material=
s physics and chemistry.  The posts are based in the Department of Earth Sc=
iences where the successful applicant will join a strong and vibrant group =
studying Earth dynamics and evolution.

Applications are invited for the following immediate vacancies:
* Two 4-year Ph.D. studentships
* One 3-year post-doctoral position
* One 5-year senior post-doctoral position
