The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), College of Engineering, University of Michigan, invites outstanding applicants for a post-doctoral researcher position in the area of Computational Materials Physics. The successful candidate will join the groups of Professors Emmanouil (Manos) Kioupakis and Anton Van der Ven in MSE at the University of Michigan (http://www.mse.engin.umich.edu/). The position is part of the Center for Solar and Thermal Energy Conversion (http://cstec.engin.umich.edu), an Energy Frontier Research Center supported by the U.S. Department of Energy. The work will focus on the structural, electronic, optical, and transport properties of novel inorganic materials for solar-cell and thermoelectric applications. The work will be performed in close collaboration with ongoing experimental research efforts within the Center.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline, and a strong background in condensed-matter physics and density-functional methods. Experience with excited-state approaches (e.g. GW, TDDFT) and code development for high-performance computing is highly desirable. Good communications skills, ability to work in a team, and a keen interest to collaborate with researchers within the Center are also desirable. Applicants should submit a cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, publications list, and the names and contact information of at least three references, to kioup-at-umich.edu and avdv-at-umich.edu. This is a one-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (renewable) and is available immediately.
