Several postdoctoral positions are available in the group of Craig Fennie o=
f Cornell University in the general area of structurally and chemically com=
plex materials physics from first principles, specifically:
1)=09Optical properties of complex oxide hetrostructures for energy applica=
tions
2)=09Correlated oxide interfaces
The first position is part of a collaboration with the group of Jeff Neaton=
at the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley Lab, anticipated start date =
is the Fall 2009. The second position is partially through Cornell=92s MRSE=
C program "Controlling Complex Electronic Materials" and is available immed=
iately.

Candidates for either position will collaborate closely with the experiment=
al groups of Darrell Schlom (MSE) and David Muller (AEP). Both positions pr=
ovide an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience and exposure within=
the complex oxides community at-large and at Cornell including the groups =
of Eun-ah Kim, Seamus Davis, Joel Brock and Kyle Shen.

Highly motivated candidates with a strong background in solid-state physics=
are encouraged to apply for these positions. Previous experience with appl=
ication or development of first-principles beyond LDA methods such as the G=
W approximation and/or DMFT would be beneficial but is not necessary; eager=
ness to learn about real materials and to collaborate closely with experime=
ntalists is required.

To apply for either position send a CV, the names of three references, and =
a brief (one-paragraph) description of your future research interests to Pr=
of. Craig Fennie at fennie-at-cornell.edu.<br />
