for the maximum duration of three years is <= font size=3D"2" style=3D"font-size: 11pt;" >seeking = for excellent young researchers on the PhD- and Postdoc-level, who have sho= wn experience in the development and application of multi-scale computation= al methods and approaches to simulations of materials-related structures, p= roperties and functions.

= Major f= oci of the projects are:

  1. Development =09of scale-bridging simulation techniqu= es from quantum description =09of nanostructures to reactive force f= ield and coarse graining =09atomistic dynamics to FEM-modelling of microstr= ucture evolution and =09processing. Applications involve simulation of trib= ological =09pairings/parameters of plasma functionalised ceramic surfaces i= n =09presence of various lubricants and studies of adhesion =09(wetting/de-= wetting) of ice on  functionalised =09substrates.=

  2. Development =09of multi-scale statistical growth sim= ulations by combining quantum =09approaches with reactive force fields and = kinetic Monte-Carlo =09techniques. =09The application focuses on str= uctural evolution of optical coatings =09(TiO2, = =09MgF2) =09depending on plasma deposition paramet= ers and characterisation of =09statistical structural properties in correla= tion with optical =09quality.

We are looking for excellent young scientist with p= rofound theoretical background in physics/chemistry or materials science, w= ith qualified skills in development and application of computational method= s and a special ability for interdisciplinary scientific work with G= erman partners at universities and in industry. Applicants should have obta= ined their Master- or PhD-degree with outstanding grades and attained a hig= h level in scientific communication and significant achievements in their r= espective research field since.
