A postdoctoral position in computational materials science is available in the group of Dr. Denis Andrienko at the Max Plank Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany (www.mpip-mainz.mpg.de/~andrienk/)

The research project concerns combining atomistic simulations, systematic coarse-graining, and mean-field theory with quantum modeling of charge transport properties of self-assembling organic systems and conjugated polymers. It will be performed in a close collaboration with experimentalists and industry.

The initial contract will be for one year, with possible renewal for another year, and could start as early as April 2009. The candidate should have a PhD in Physics, Applied Physics or Theoretical Chemistry and good experience in coding (C++, C). A strong interest in multidisciplinary research is required. A background in the first-principles modeling of transport properties will be considered an advantage. Good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written, is essential.

Please send your documents (curriculum vitae, publication list) electronically to Dr. Denis Andrienko (andrienk-at-mpip-mainz.mpg.de). After the documents have been received and evaluated, applicants will be notified whether they are considered for an interview and presentation of their recent scientific work. Outstanding candidates will be nominated for research fellowships.
