Postdoc position in computational chemistry applied to confined molecular catalysis

 

Job description

The confinement of molecular catalysts in microporous structures is often considered to immobilize the catalysts, in order to facilitate the separation of the catalysts from the products and/or reactants.  We have obained however preliminary results showing that under some conditions, activity and selectivity can be favorably affected by confinement. The influence of the microporous structure and, to a second degree, the impact of the ligands on free energy profiles along reaction pathways of interest will be investigated and rationalized by molecular modelling techniques, in particular based on DFT calculations and forcefield based GCMC simulations. 

 

Your profile:
You have a PhD in computational chemistry or physics, with excellent skills in molecular modelling and Linux.  Given the international character of the project which this postdoc position makes part of, a fluency in verbal and written English is a must. Fluent arabic is a plus.

Our offer
A challenging postdoctoral position (18 months) in an advanced high-tech environment, working on leading-edge technologies and having many international contacts.  This project makes part of a collaboration between IFP, CNRS, ENS-Lyon (France) and KAUST (Saudi Arabia).  Main working address is IFP Rueil-Malmaison (France) but visits to Lyon and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) must be foreseen. Gross Salary: 3300 € /month.
