Position summary: postdoctoral appointment in theoretical studies of nanoscale charge-separation assemblies

We are initiating a joint theoretical/experimental effort to identify novel metal/phenylene/ethynylene linkers to facilitate charge separation between quantum dots. The proposed work will involve the development of ab-initio-based structural models of linker-quantum dot assemblies, determination of the charge transport properties of these assemblies, and computational screening of multiple (O(100)) structures to identify assemblies with enhanced properties for photochemical charge separation. Promising materials identified from our computational effort will be synthesized and tested in our world-leading experimental facilities.

PhD-level experience with periodic electronic structure calculations is a must for this project, and experience with electron transport calculations is highly desirable.

Interested candidates should send a full CV to Dr. Jeffrey Greeley (Argonne National Laboratory, jgreeley-at-anl.gov) or Professor Michael Hopkins (mhopkins-at-uchicago.edu).
