One Research Fellow position is available immediately in the Center fo= r Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices, CRANN (www.crann.tcd.ie), Ireland flagship research center for nanoscienc= e and nanotechnology. The positions will be in the “Computational Spi= ntronics Group” headed by Prof. Stefano Sanvito, although we expect t= he successful candidate to be able to conduct independent research.<= /p>

 

 

 

The position will be mainly focused on developing a QM/MM simulation p= ackage to be integrated into a large nanoscience simulation tool constructe= d at TCD, and to the application of the same to large-scale nanoscience pro= blems at the boundary with biology. We expect the successful candidate to d= rive such an activity and to act as an independent research. There is also = the possibility to supervise a PhD student at the very beginning of the pro= ject as well as to seek for independent research funding.

 

 

 

In particular CRANN and the School of Physics at TCD, will support the= candidate’s application to the President of Ireland Young Researcher= Award, a scheme from Science Foundation of Ireland for the development of = young and emerging research talent (see http= ://www.sfi.ie/content/content.asp?section_id=3D516).

 

 

 

The starting salary will be in the range 42,000-52,000 Euro/year depen= ding on the candidate experience. The initial contract will be for 2 years = (subject to probation) eventually renewable for other three. Large computat= ional infrastructures are available both at the Trinity Center for High Per= formance Computing (www.tchpc.t= cd.ie) and at the Iris= h Center for High End Computing (ww= w.ichec.ie).
