The individual will join a research project on ferroelectric-semiconductors in which the origin of ferroelectricity in this group of materials and the interplay between ferroelectricity and semiconduction are studied theoretically and experimentally. The focus of the work described here is to bring the potential of first-principles simulation to the study of atomic scale phenomena in these materials. The position is for one year and may be extended on a yearly basis up to a maximum of four years. Previous experience with computational techniques based on density functional theory is highly desirable.
