The work will involve DFT calculations of novel catalysts for solid oxide fuel cells. The catalysts will include ceria with various dopants, and Ni/Cu cermats. The work will involve investigating their reactions with hydrogen and hydrocarbons. The position involves teamwork with experimentalists who are using Environmental Cell TEM to investigate the catalysts under realistic operating conditions. Applicants should have a rich understanding of DFT, one or more publications using DFT, and preferably an understanding of ceramic defect chemistry and catalysis of adsorbates on surfaces.
