Applications are invited to fill several postdoctoral fellowships in condensed matter theory at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, starting in August 2008 or sooner. These fellowships, which will normally be expected to last for three years, are associated with the recently-launched Institute for Condensed Matter Theory at Illinois (see: www.icmt.uiuc.edu).

ICMT postdoctoral fellows will have wide latitude in their choice of research activities, and will be encouraged to be broadly engaged with condensed matter research activities at Illinois. Further information about ICMT postdoctoral fellowships is available from the ICMT website (see: www.icmt.uiuc.edu/Opps-postdocs.html).

Applications are also invited to fill a number of departmental postdoctoral positions in condensed matter theory, starting in August 2008. These positions, which are funded through standard grants, can be applied for concurrently with ICMT fellowships (see: www.icmt.uiuc.edu/Opps-postdocs-FAQ.html#Department).

Although the departmental positions are typically more closely tied to a specific supporting project than the ICMT ones, all Illinois postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to take advantage of the extensive opportunities provided to develop breadth through wide-ranging collaborations.

We would be grateful if you would bring these ICMT and departmental postdoctoral positions to the attention of strong, creative individuals, regardless of their specialties, and encourage them to apply (please see the attached pdf flyer). The deadline for applications is November 21, 2007.

The ICMT website (www.icmt.uiuc.edu) also provides information about ICMT and its aims, which are to foster cutting-edge research in condensed matter theory (very broadly construed), by:
