Thermodynamic measurement on the melting of a two-dimensional electron solid

Absoulute specific-heat measurements are presented for the solid phase and upper limit of 0.2kB per particle is established for the change in entropy on melting. The results support the dislocation-pairunbinding model of Kosterlitz and Thouless.
